Following a last-place finish in the ACC, Georgia Tech men’s basketball has fired former head coach Damon Stoudamire, per ESPN.
The Yellow Jackets went on a 12-game losing streak to end their season, seeing them finish 2-16 in the ACC. Stoudamire, a former NBA guard who spent eight seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, coached Georgia Tech for three years, finishing with a combined record of 42-55. Georgia Tech owes Stoudamire an additional $2.6 million over the next two years. Greg Gary has been
named the interim head coach.
Prior to his head coaching role with the Yellow Jackets, Stoudamire was on the coaching staff across numerous NCAA men’s basketball programs, including the Memphis Tigers and Arizona Wildcats. He was the head coach of the Pacific Tigers from 2016 to 2021, leaving to join the Boston Celtics’ coaching staff. In 2023, Stoudamire accepted the head coaching position at Georgia Tech.
