Barcelona have issued a statement on Gavi after the midfielder picked up an injury during Sunday’s La Liga win over Elche.
Gavi had to be replaced in the first half of the match after sustaining a knee problem. However, the club have now confirmed that there is no serious injury and it’s just a bruise.
“First team player Gavi took a knock to his right knee during yesterday’s game,” the club said in a statement.
“Medical tests carried out this morning have confirmed that it is only a bruise. He is expected
to return to training shortly.”
Gavi has also posted a message on social media, telling fans: “Thanks to those who are always by my side, supporting me and sticking with me through thick and thin!! I don’t know any other way to experience football—sorry for putting you through so much suffering.”
It’s great news to hear that Gavi has avoided another injury and will be back soon. Barcelona return to action on Wednesday in La Liga at home to Athletic Club.
