As you guys know, from time to time, we like to lend support to charities and fundraisers. It’s one of the more rewarding things that we do. It feels really good to make a difference for people when you can.
And in this case, we think we could all make a big difference, and possibly save a life.
This situation came to our attention recently, and it seems like something people could get behind, because, at its heart, this is a story of a father in a very difficult situation who is doing everything he can
to save his son’s life against great odds.
A bit of a backstory.
Saif Al-Din lives in Gaza. Despite everything that he has experienced, which is a lot, he is, at heart, a man who wishes to live in peace.
To be clear, we avoid politics. Whatever you think about the conflict in Gaza is entirely up to you. It’s none of our business. We have no desire to sway anyone in any way, or even to discuss the conflict itself.
Our sole interest is in what Mr. Al-Din has posted about his young son.
His boy has a heart defect and urgently needs surgery. Obviously, this is profoundly difficult in a war zone, and the family is destitute.
At the most basic level, this is a story of a father who is desperate to help his son live, and who is trying to do that under the most dire of circumstances. If you have children, or if there are children in your life that you love, it’s easy to understand his agony.
He has arranged a GoFundMe to try to help his son survive, and we thought we’d link to it and see if the good people of the world would help.
Whatever you think about the conflict, we should always help men of peace where we find them, and we believe that Mr. Al-Din is just that.
If you agree, please consider donating to his GoFundMe, and let’s see if together, we can bring some small light into a family’s darkest hour.
Please also consider forwarding the GoFundMe to people you know who might be willing to help.
Thank you.
