Serge Gnabry has had a bright start to his 2025/26 Bayern Munich campaign. After two lackluster seasons in which both his availability and ability came under question, the German winger has exploded out the gates with five Bundesliga starts in Bayern’s first six games and three goals and assists apiece in the league.
He has two more assists between the Champions League and Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and appears to have reclaimed his spot in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany roster.
But with a contract expiring
next June, his future at club is still very much in doubt. Not that it is first on his mind.
“I’m not concerned with that right now. I’m extremely relaxed. I want to focus on the here and now to perform at my best. As for everything else, we’ll see,” Gnabry said in remarks on ZDF Sportstudio, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I’ve always said that I feel very comfortable in Munich, at the club, with the team, the people.
“I’m 30 now, and my career isn’t going to last much longer, so I’m starting to think about it. Will I do something else? Do I want a new challenge? But as I said I’m focused on the present at the moment. We’ll see what happens when the time comes.”
What do you think? Has Gnabry done enough to earn a new deal and a longer stay in Bavaria? Or must the winger churn continue after this summer’s departures of Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman?
