Cowboys poor run-pass balance dwarfed by predictability consequences – Reid D. Hanson, Cowboys Wire
The Cowboys playcalling is tipping off tendencies then in turn tipping off opposing defenses.
Rules are tilted in favor of the forward pass and prediction markets are tied to a team’s proficiency with the forward pass. With that said, the Dallas Cowboys need to run the ball more. Not just run the ball more but be less predictable with their run-pass decision making. Everyone probably knows by now the Cowboys are last in run rate this season. They’re well aware the Cowboys are at the bottom in both
rushing attempts (31st) and rushing yards (30th).
6 Potential dark horse trade candidates for Dallas – Cody Warren, Inside the Star
If the Cowboys aren’t done making trades, here are their under-the-radar options.
Josh Uche, EDGE, Dolphins—My First Call for Dark Horse Pass-Rush Help
Josh Uche’s recent pressure production is why he would be my first call. Miami gives him credit for 23 pressures on 142 pass-rush snaps in Philadelphia last season, which is a 16.2% pressure rate. Currently with the Dolphins, he has 10 pressures on 196 snaps, giving him a 5.1% pressure rate. If we break that down further, he has 111 pass-rush snaps, that comes out to 9.0%. Not great, but he has the ability to attack from different alignments. Also, Parker was in Philadelphia when his rate was at 16.2%.
Updates: Durant, Overshown to return for MNF – Dallas Cowboys Staff Writers, Dallascowboys.com
The Cowboys are expecting some help on the horizon ahead of Monday night.
Reinforcements are officially on the way for Christian Parker and the Cwoboys’ defense. DeMarvion Overshown and Cobie Durant both participated fully in practice this week, on more than one occasion, and they enter the Week 7 matchup against the Eagles with no game designation — meaning they are cleared medically and available to play. The injury report on Saturday did rule out KaVontae Turpin, Dee Winters and Drew Shelton, all as expected, but gave hope for the status of Marist Liufau and PJ Locke.

NFC East Week 7 preview: Cowboys can take major step forward vs. Eagles – Jess Haynie, The Landry Hat
What a win Monday means for the Cowboys.
It’s not hyperbole to say this is a must-win for both teams. The loser goes to 2-5 and suffers a huge blow to their 2026 aspirations, and the winner has a great chance to gain ground on the Giants. Even at home, the Eagles at least have the QB excuse if they fail. Tanner McKee got outclassed by Bryce Young in last week’s loss to the Panthers, avoiding turnovers but not generating enough offense in a 25-14 loss. If the Cowboys don’t get it done this week, it could be a catalyst for full-on implosion.
Micah Parsons Trade Could Finally Pay Off for the Cowboys With an Oregon Run Stuffer – Sahil Goswami, Yahoo Sports
The Cowboys could ammunition thanks to the Micah Parsons trade to get an impactful run stopper.
Why A’Mauri Washington fits the Cowboys’ run defense
The numbers explain the pick. The 2-4 Cowboys have allowed 899 rushing yards, the most in the NFL, at 4.7 yards per carry. They were giving up 168.4 rushing yards per game before Week 6, including 241 to Tampa Bay, which helped bring Mike Pettine onto the staff as a senior defensive assistant.
Dallas did hold Green Bay to 57 rushing yards on 26 carries in the 23-13 loss at Lambeau, and Clark pointed straight at that. “I think it all started right there with the run game, stopping that,” Clark said after the game, adding that it got the Packers into “longer passing situations.”
NFL predictions: 3 bold takes on the Cowboys at Eagles – Dave Halprin, Blogging the Boys
Three spicy hot takes that could happen Monday night.
Jake Ferguson will surprise everyone with a banger of a game
Everybody is down on Jake Ferguson, and truthfully he’s had a rough start to the season. He only has 115 yards through six games. He does have three touchdowns, but he also has a fumble and the crushing miscue that led to the game-ending interception last week. His YAC is a measly 45 yards this year. We’re not even going to start talking about the blocking.
