CM Punk was beaten but not broken at the end of Monday’s Raw. After being speared and powerbombed through a table by Roman Reigns, his WrestleMania challenger, WWE’s World Heavyweight Champion was as confident as ever as the show went off the air.
Footage from vlogger Matt Kempke shows Punk exchanging words with Raw GM Adam Pearce, who seemed upset that his Mania main event was at risk after the latest face-off between Punk and Reigns turned physical. Punk pointed to his palm, hinting he had Reigns exactly
where he wanted, then slung the belt over his shoulder and pointed to the sky, à la the Tribal Chief.
A week after being called “old” by Reigns, Punk embraced it, comparing himself to WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk. He continued taunting Reigns’ family, prompting Jey Uso to confront him. Jimmy Uso tried to intervene, but Reigns appeared, and a melee ensued. Punk hit Jey with a microphone, and Reigns responded with a Superman punch to the champion.
As officials restrained the Usos, Jey ordered Reigns to “get him.” Reigns then speared Punk and powerbombed him through the announcer’s desk before walking off. Punk, gasping for air, laughed, claiming Reigns still needed his cousins to get the job done.
With Punk in the Bloodline’s head, “The Second City Saint” may have swung momentum in his favor. Though Reigns declared open season on Punk, he insisted the champion belongs to him at Mania.
Jey’s temper, though, could override his Chief’s orders. Similar disobedience previously cost Reigns a match against Bronson Reed at last year’s Crown Jewel. It appears Punk is betting on history repeating itself as he targets Reigns and his cousins.
