There could be another major change coming behind the scenes at Bayern Munich, with chief scout Nils Schmadtke reportedly facing growing internal criticism.
According to Sport1 journalist Stefan Kumberger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the criticism of Schmadtke and his scouting department dates back to the spring. One of the more serious concerns reportedly involves the repeated leaks of Bayern Munich’s personnel plans, with some club decision-makers allegedly pointing the finger at the scouting department.
That suspicion could now have significant consequences for Schmadtke’s future in Munich.
The reports come amid growing uncertainty over whether Schmadtke will remain with Bayern Munich beyond this summer. Max Eberl pushed back against the speculation last week, pointing out that Schmadtke still has a year remaining on his contract and warning against what he described as going too far in the public discussion surrounding the chief scout.
Schmadtke joined Bayern Munich in 2024 and subsequently restructured the club’s scouting operation. Now, however, questions are being raised about both his department’s work and its handling of sensitive information. If Bayern Munich does ultimately decide to make a change, it would represent a significant shift within the club’s recruitment structure.
The biggest question may be whether the reported concerns about leaks are enough to cost Schmadtke his position.
It is also key to remember that — at this stage — these are just reports and have not been confirmed by the club.
