Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has insisted there’s no “conflict” with Hansi Flick or Barcelona despite the recent saga regarding Lamine Yamal’s injury.
Flick was criticial of Spain after Yamal returned from the last call-up with an injury. De la Fuente seemed completely uninterested in Flick’s complaints but then saw Yamal ruled out of the latest round of fixtures.
The national team boss was asked about the situation again on Friday, ahead of Spain’s next World Cup qualifier against Georgia, and insisted
all is well between club and country.
“I have said almost everything and I am not going to change anything. We have to talk about Georgia, we have to win these games and it will be complicated. They have players of a high level and we will have to offer our best version to win,” he said when asked.
“There is no conflict with Barça or Flick. I feel very supported. I feel very loved and very appreciated. I have a contract until 2028 and I want to continue until 2030, our World Cup.”
Flick had more harsh words for the national team set-up after seeing Marc Bernal called up for Under-21 duty following his return from injury.
The midfielder subsequently dropped out and return to Barca, while Dani Olmo is also now heading back to his club due to injury.
