Following the opening press conference for the rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, where Eubank Jr would spend a lot of time arguing with Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, Eubank spoke to Ring Magazine about his ongoing issue with Hearn that continues to be front and center at every turn.
“He’s a bad guy pretending to be a good guy,” Eubank said of Hearn. “If he just owned being a bad guy then I wouldn’t have anything to say about him. But the fact he tries to act like he’s this nice guy that’s
caring and doing all these things for people — he’s not. He’s a bad person, and he comes up here and he tries to take shots at me at my press conferences. Why am I going to let him talk? You haven’t got anything positive to say so be quiet.
“I knew this is what these men were before the (first) fight, and they just proved it, they showed it to everybody leading up to the fight, so you could all see all the things they were doing. He’s unsavory, he’s entitled, he’s is the definition of a scumbag.”
Eubank Jr would then be asked about what role his father will play in this sequel after he surprised many by appearing at the first fight after emphatically campaigning against it.
“He will be there,” Eubank said. “He will be there when it counts. In terms of training in my camp, he’s not been apart of that part of my life for a long time so I don’t see that changing. But we talk, I think I’m filming a TV show with him tomorrow so things are a lot better than they were.”
