You may have heard of the news about Serge Gnabry extending his stay at Bayern Munich, penning a deal until 2028. Now, Gnabry’s agency also represents Konrad Laimer who is the silent workhorse of the team, and it seems that it won’t be as easy as Gnabry’s
A snippet of a report by Sport Bild (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia) tackled the situations of Gnabry’s and Laimer’s contract extensions. The former’s is done but negotiations with the latter are still ongoing for an extension of his contract,
which expires in 2027. The management believes he deserves a salary increase for him (€9 million salary + €2,250,00 bonus per Capology), and that the talks are tougher than with Gnabry.
“Tougher talks” can mean two things: one is that the contract negotiations are less flexible. Unlike Gnabry (whose wages could still be too high for what is essentially a bench player), Laimer is a guaranteed starter and as suggested above merits a raise and the club want it as much as Laimer’s agency. The other definition could be that both parties want a contract extension as soon as possible. In any case, the Austrian is a must-extend for the Bavarians.
