Sometimes, a precent is all one needs to make an argument. The first half of 2024/25 season saw the Bavarians’ U-17 front three tear up the domestic league, scoring around half a dozen goals a game and winning every game in the preliminary round before they moved on to the U-19s in the winter. That attack consisted of Lennart Karl, Wisdom Mike…and Yll Gashi (yes, his first name consists of a ‘Y’ followed by the ‘l’s).
The former two made the huge leap from the U-19s to the senior team and have made their
debuts under head coach Vincent Kompany. Gashi, meanwhile, suffered a big injury that kept him out for most of the summer and saw him only recently return, at the time of writing, back to Bayern’s U-19s. The difference is rather stark.
So it may not be that big of a surprise that a rumor has now popped up from Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER, that Gashi, whose contract expires in 2026, hopes to make the jump up with his fellow youth forwards before extending his contract:
Yll Gashi is hoping for the leap to the Bayern pros, which his former U17 teammates Lennart Karl & Wisdom Mike – with whom Gashi as a trio tore apart the opponents’ nets in the youth team – have already achieved. His contract is expiring, and for him, it’s all about landing a pro deal.
Even Gashi’s ex-club Hertha BSC is keeping fingers crossed that Gashi has a future with Bayern’s pros. Because: If Gashi plays 30 Bundesliga matches for Bayern, Hertha gets a bonus payment. Thanks to the clause, the Berliners could ultimately cash in 500,000€ for Gashi.
However, Gashi has many invitations lying before him: AC Milan, Bergamo, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Freiburg, Augsburg, Paderborn, Fürth, Ajax Amsterdam, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Anderlecht, Basel, Young Boys, and Salzburg have already inquired with family members.
As for Bayern, @iMiaSanMia_GER captures Bild reporter Christian Falk’s claim that the Bundesliga champions really want to keep the youngster:
Bayern is absolutely determined to extend the expiring contract with Yll Gashi. The striker is just returning from his injury to the syndesmosis ligament. The question is how much Vincent Kompany is counting on him.
In addition to the aforementioned clubs, Juventus, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and also clubs from Austria are interested in Gashi.
