Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to for the Giants as hey prepare for the New Orleans Saints.
First-place Giants are a distant third in betting odds to win the NFC East | Pro Football Talk
It’s not hard to understand why the bettors aren’t sold on the Giants: Despite managing to win three games, they haven’t looked particularly good while doing so, on either offense or defense. (Their special teams are playing well.) Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart is out for the season and there are doubts about how long they can keep winning with Jameis Winston. And their
schedule has been easy; all five teams they’ve played currently have losing records.
The schedule stays easy this week, with a home game against the 1-4 Saints. The Giants are 1.5-point underdogs, which underscores how little faith the bettors have in them. If the Giants manage to win on Sunday, their odds to win the division may improve a little. But it won’t be until November 8, when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles, when the Giants can make a statement that they really are the best team in the NFC East. Unless the Giants keep winning through that game, they’re going to stay long shots to win the division.
Team culture on display
NFL spread, straight-up picks: Rams, Chiefs, Colts top Week 6 confidence rankings | The Athletic
The Giants are developing an identity — a never-say-die outfit that raises its level of play when it matters the most. Jameis Winston was atrocious in the first half, but came out throwing lasers in the second half and overtime, Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely were ballers and the defense made big stops.
The Saints are almost certain to be a popular pick. They’ve lost three straight and the Giants aren’t that good. But a bounceback is coming. And I believe the Giants defense — keyed by surging pass-rusher Abdul Carter and top draft-pick Arvell Reese — will spinebuster the game for Tyler Shough. The Saints’ inability to run the football will be their undoing.
Why John Harbaugh’s track record may separate the Giants from the rest of the NFC East | New York Post
John Harbaugh was on the phone with his wife after the Giants did not win and did not lose last Sunday against the Commanders. Ingrid Harbaugh was tuned in to various NFL games on what turned into a wild and wacky Sunday of action.
It can be Crazy Town around the NFL and especially in the NFC East. The Giants want to live in Sane City and have the head coach to keep the crazy out.
Dru Phillips: Giants’ defensive stands stem from preseason practice | USAToday.com
Cornerback Dru Phillips said the results trace back to repetition in practice rather than any sudden change in personnel or scheme.
“I definitely feel like, especially in the preseason, we went through these situations so many times in practice where we get into the game, and we all trust each other — it’s not like you got to be Superman and make a play,” Phillips said. “It’s more just do your job and I believe everybody can — we can get off the field if everyone just does their job…Dennard has a way of cooking things up, but it’s definitely not I would say a consistent thing. It’s a week-by-week thing off of, I guess what we’re seeing and how we feel. So, you just go out there and if they send me I’m going to try my best to go get there and everything but the percentage is just it goes off the flow of the game.”

How Giants embrace ‘Jameis Winston Experience’ for what it truly means | The Record
Many within the NFL have been consumed by the caricature created by Jameis Winston with his charisma, persona and flat-out quirkiness continuing to command attention.
What other player could get Giants coach John Harbaugh, answering a question during Monday’s video call about his quarterback’s seemingly unwavering optimism, to go from speaking on Jameis Winston to Winston Churchill without batting an eye, and somehow making that transition seamlessly?
J.J. McCarthy’s Giants debut offered a glimpse: What’s next? | NJ.com
Still, don’t be surprised if Harbaugh gives McCarthy another shot Sunday in a similar package to what Nagy used in Washington. After all, Harbaugh said he liked the look of the plan Nagy and Co. had for McCarthy.
“I do, and I think we’ll grow,” Harbaugh said. “We just have to see. It just all depends. We’re in a situation now where it’s by any means necessary. So we’re all on board for whoever, however. Sometimes, it’s going to work. Sometimes, it’s not. We had a chance in a couple of those to make big plays.”

2026 NFL offensive line rankings: Lions move into top spot | PFF
17. New York Giants (up 3). The Giants benched John Michael Schmitz Jr. ahead of Week 4, with Bryan Hudson replacing him in the starting lineup. The move has paid off so far, with Hudson notching PFF grades above 70.0 in both starts. Hudson has allowed just one pressure from 102 pass-blocking snaps, producing a 96.8% PFF pass-block win rate across those two starts.
Revisiting 2026 preseason bold predictions for 32 NFL teams: Which are on track? | ESPN.com
Original prediction: Tight end Isaiah Likely will lead the team in receptions. Why it’s on target: Likely currently leads the Giants in receptions, with 33 catches to Malik Nabers’ 29. As Nabers continues to recover from the ACL injury he suffered last season, he might accrue more volume. But Likely is ahead right now and has proved to be a key part of this new Giants offense.
