As the Michigan football team looks to turn the page away from an ugly Week One victory over Western Michigan to its highly anticipated matchup with No. 10 Oklahoma, it’ll also be looking for a change in threads, away from the divisive all-maize uniforms. And in my opinion, they made the ideal choice.
On Friday afternoon, it was announced that the Wolverines will be rocking their classic look: blue jerseys and maize pants, with white socks in lieu of the more common blue. It makes up Michigan’s most
recognizable combination, followed by the white jersey/blue pants, all-blues, and all-whites.
This is by far my favorite look in Michigan’s wardrobe. It combines the program’s distinctive colors in equal measure, and while I prefer blue socks to the white ones, I think it adds a nice pop and will be visually appealing against the backdrop of a sunlit Big House. The all-maizes did grow on me more than I thought — but it’s nice to see the Wolverines rocking up in a uniform that doesn’t look like it fell out of Saul Goodman’s spare closet.
