Kickoff is just a few hours away when the Minnesota Golden Gophers will open the 2025 season against the Buffalo Bulls. Lets take a quick look at some of the information you may want to know:
What are the current odds?
As of 9 AM Thursday morning, according to Fanduel the Gophers are 17.5 point favorites against Buffalo with an over/under number of 43.5. You can see the most up to date numbers at the link HERE. That would lean towards a final score in the ballpark of a 31-13 Gopher win.
With Buffalo returning a ton of defensive
starters, and the Gophers tendency to start slow in their opening game, that number seems quite high. I’d probably lean towards taking Buffalo + 17.5 here. The over/under number seems pretty accurate, but could see a very small over with a 27-17 final definitely in the realistic possibilities.
What About the Game Time Weather?
Absolutely glorious. We have had it all for season openers in Minneapolis from 90’s and humid to 60’s and rain. But Thursday night will be about as good as it gets. According to Accuweather the forecast for kickoff is expected to be 74 degrees and partly cloudy with a light east wind between 5-10 miles per hour with a few gusts up to 15. Should be an absolutely gorgeous sunset behind Williams Arena with the sun slated to go down at 7:57 PM, or early in the 2nd quarter. By the end of the game the temps will likely fall into the upper 60’s. Perfectly comfortable.
