Charlotte Knights 5, Durham Bulls 3 Just like the big-league club, the Knights (62-52) overpowered the Bulls (52-61) to claim the series. José Urquidy made his third start for Charlotte since he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing one run in his two frames on three hits while striking out three in the process. A pair of doubles in the second drove in the first run for the Bulls, but the Good Guys answered back in the bottom of the inning, tying the game at one on a solo shot from Korey
Lee, his first of two batted in on the day. Adding three more the next inning, Rikuu Nishida and Mario Camilletti started the inning with back-to-back walks before being brought in by Ryan Galanie. Junior Perez also mashed a solo shot in the seventh to add an insurance run, making up for his rough day yesterday.
Daniel Wright and Tyler Schweitzer were next out of the bullpen, each allowing on run on two hits while striking out two, earning a hold and keeping the Knights in the game with the lead. All of the remaining pitchers earned a hold while Jaden Woods earned his second save of the season, striking out one with a hit, sealing the win for Wright.

Rocket City Trash Pandas 2, Birmingham Barons 1
With each team putting up just four hits apiece, the Trash Pandas (56-51) squeaked out the win with two runs in the seventh to defeat the Barons (43-65). Righthander Dylan Cumming made his 19th start of the season, and ultimately lost the rubber match, putting two on before departing the game. Sadly both runs ended up scoring, handing Jackson Kelley a blown save to start his outing, which was the only base hit he allowed against his three Ks in the final two innings.
Offensively, the Barons left a whopping 10 runners on base and went just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. They walked eight times, but struck out 13 and weren’t able to take advantage of any situation. Colby Shelton accounted for two of the four Birmingham hits, and his RBI double in the sixth was the only run that crossed home plate for the Good Guys.

Asheville Tourists 8, Winston-Salem Dash 4 — Completion of Friday, August 7 game (9 innings)
Finally, the Dash (58-48) and Tourists (35-70) were able to finish Friday’s game after two days of rain, but Asheville persevered while errors got the best of Winston-Salem, taking the first game of the day, 8-4. Since this game originally began as a nine-inning game, they completed it as such, which is why both games today weren’t seven innings with the doubleheader. The Dash outhit the Tourists, 10-8, but also committed three errors, providing three of the four Winston-Salem pitchers with an unearned run apiece.
Because the game was delayed on two different days, starting pitcher Drew McDaniel’s outing was cut short after two innings, with one of two runs allowed being earned on a leadoff home run in the first, while walking one and striking out two. The Dash had actually tied it up at two by scoring two in the second after Kyle Lodise tripled to kick things off, was driven in by a Jackson Appel base hit, who was subsequently batted in on a two-bagger from Derek Cerda, 2-2.
Unfortunately the lead didn’t last long, and Frankeli Arias surrendered three in the top of the third after his own fielding error caused a run and a two-run single made it 5-2, Asheville. Lefthander Dylan Carmouche came in as a long reliever as the game restarted Sunday, and was holding it down until the sixth when the Tourists added three more. The loss was still awarded to Arias, however, as the offense never snapped back to close the gap.
The Dash bats went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position while leaving 11 on base, so they had their chances to make a comeback. Nick McLain drove in two runs for Winston-Salem on his two hits, while Appel and Roch Cholowsky had multi-hit days of their own. Roch even attempted to manufacture runs, with three stolen bases. The bats were otherwise cold, racking up 15 strikeouts as a team, with everyone except Appel striking out at least once.

The Dash (58-49) weren’t as lucky in the second game ,either, as the bullpen imploded twice for four runs that allowed the Tourists (36-70) to sweep the doubleheader in extras, 8-5. Lefthander Justin Sinibaldi made his 19th start of the season, and was excellent for the first four innings, giving up just one hit while walking one and striking out three. Unfortunately, once Winston-Salem went to the bullpen, the Asheville was able to rally for four runs in the fifth off of Max Banks to take a three-run lead, 4-1.
Wes Kath had blasted an RBI double in his first at-bat to give the Dash an early lead, 1-0, but they were likely never going to win the game with just the one run. Down to their last at-bats in the bottom of the seventh, Winston-Salem was able to close the gap and tie the game up at four. Bryce Eblin doubled in the first run, Ely Brown singled to drive in the second, and Javier Mogollón capped it off with a solo shot, 4-4, forcing extra innings.
With a fresh slate, the Dash put themselves in a great position to win the game, but Jesus Mendez imploded for four more runs to lose it. They scored one in the bottom of the inning in their last attempt, but the run came in on a throwing error, and the bats were unable to come back a second time, 8-5.

Outhitting the RiverDogs (60-48), 7-4, the Cannon Ballers (56-52) held on to a close one to take the series, 3-2. Scoring a run each in the first, second, and fourth, was just enough for Kanny to beat Charleston as the pitching staff held them to just four hits, with Anthony Patterson III locking in his fourth win of the season after 1 1/3 innings of one-hit ball and two strikeouts.
Three separate Cannon Ballers drove in a run: Jaden Fauske, Stiven Flores and Efren Teran, with Fauske mashing a triple and Flores posting the top offensive performance for Kannapolis, with three hits on the day. The bats went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position while leaving seven on base, but thankfully the arm barn was able to hold it together, with Jordan Morales receiving his fourth save of the season.
