The New England Patriots’ bad injury luck continues this week, with wide receiver A.J. Brown and running back TreVeyon Henderson both inactive for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. That said, the team did receive some good news 90 minutes before kickoff.
The two remaining questionables for the game — linebacker Christian Elliss (chest) and cornerback Carlton Davis III (neck) — have both been cleared for action. Neither status comes as a particular surprise after both were full practice participants
throughout the week. Still, there was some minor uncertainty hanging over them entering game day.
For Elliss, this means he will play in an eighth straight game this season. For Davis, meanwhile, it means returning after a three-game injury absence: the starting outside cornerback opposite Pro Bowler Christian Gonzalez last appeared in the Patriots’ Week 4 win over the Buffalo Bills, and has played only three total games thus far this season.
With Ellis and Davis given the green light, here are New England’s inactives for Week 8:
Patriots inactives
- QB3 Behren Morton
- RB TreVeyon Henderson
- WR A.J. Brown
- CB Karon Prunty
- CB Channing Canada
- S Elliott Davison
Besides Brown and Henderson, who are out with a knee injury and illness, respectively, the Patriots’ inactives list consists only of healthy scratches. Behren Morton remains as the third quarterback; Karon Prunty and Channing Canada are now firmly at the bottom of the cornerback depth chart; Elliott Davison is as well at safety.
Dolphins inactives
- WR Jared Wayne
- TE Justin Joly
- LG Kadyn Proctor
- OL Christian Haynes
- ED Jamree Kromah
- CB Marcellas Dial Jr.
- CB Jaylin Simpson
The Dolphins’ most notable inactive was already announced on Friday. Kadyn Proctor, will miss the contest after remaining in concussion protocol. The first-round rookie had stared all previous six games at left guard, playing 100% of Miami’s offensive snaps along the way.
Kickoff between the Patriots and Dolphins at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
