March 26 is not an ideal time to begin the MLB season. That means some cold weather teams will have six home games in March. Brrrr. And the Cubs are getting the worst of it, opening the season at Wrigley Field in the earliest-ever regular-season game there on March 26, part of a six-game homestand against two teams that only come to Wrigley once.
I just don’t get it. I’ve written many times about how the warm-weather/dome teams need to just suck it up and have a few more home games the first couple
of weeks. Instead, we are left for praying for a warm March in Chicago. Further, there will be 12 home games before April 12. Seriously, MLB, come on.
In any case, here we are, and everyone will have to make the best of it.
The longest Cubs homestands are seven games, once in late April vs. the Mets and Phillies, once in late August/early September vs. the Reds and Brewers. And they’ll finish the regular season in Boston, an interesting matchup. As was the case this year, the Cubs won’t see their biggest rivals, the Cardinals, at Wrigley Field until July.
Please bring back the unbalanced schedule, MLB.
Here’s the complete Cubs 2026 regular season schedule. Home games in boldface. Game times will be added when they are available, when they are they will all be listed in Central time.
