The Dallas Wings (21-16) are slated to face the Seattle Storm (7-30) Sunday afternoon at College Park Center. The matchup comes after the Wings’ turnaround win over the Indiana Fever last Thursday night. Sunday’s game with Seattle marks the third and final matchup between the two teams, with Dallas looking to cap off the series with a sweep.
Azzi Fudd is out for the Wings as she recovers from a knee procedure, and Aziaha James’ status is currently unknown.
Here are three key points ahead of this matchup
for Dallas.
An opportunity for Bueckers to bounce back from Thursday’s quiet performance
The Wings were able to take care of business against the Fever despite a quiet performance from Paige Bueckers, thanks to big performances from Arike Ogunbowale and Jessica Shepard. Though Bueckers was unable to find her shot at times Thursday night, she was able to lean into her playmaking in their last matchup with Indiana. Bueckers’ 13 points and 5-of-16 shooting was uncharacteristic of her given the game’s circumstances; Bueckers loves to put on a show and had the opportunity to do so for an AAC crowd. Bueckers has had a weird stretch of games since her injury before the All-Star break, and Sunday’s matchup with Seattle is an opportunity to get her groove back as the season concludes. She led the Wings with 27 points in their last win over the Storm and will be looking to replicate that performance. If Bueckers has another quiet performance on Sunday, expect it to be an Ogunbowale and Shepard game again.
Don’t let Dominique Malonga take over the game
The biggest threat for the Wings in this matchup will be figuring out how to contain Dominique Malonga. She missed the first matchup between the two squads this season, but finished the second with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks in the Wings’ 112-110 overtime win. Malonga was the second pick in the 2025 draft behind Bueckers for a reason; she is an inside force on both sides of the ball and will soon be one of the W’s best bigs. Dallas has struggled with paint defense all season and will have their work cut out for them with Malonga. The Wings need to keep her from taking over the game as she did in their last matchup; if she does, they need to shut down everyone else to win.
Take care of business and on to the next
The Wings sit firmly in the eighth seed ahead of the New York Liberty’s Saturday night matchup with the Indiana Fever. A win Sunday afternoon allows Dallas to gain some much-needed ground on the Liberty and Washington Mystics. The Storm are an unserious organization that has long ago positioned itself to lose as many games as possible this season in the hopes of obtaining a top draft pick. Sunday’s matchup with the Seattle should be a scheduled win for the Wings, but it is important they don’t play with their food and take care of business.
