After a formal announcement of a fight between Mikaela Mayer vs Chantelle Cameron set for an August 29 MVPW-06 card in Birmingham, Englands, both appeared for a formal press event where they promised to showcase both their skills and heart. In fact, Mayer says this fight is happening at the perfect time in their respective careers and expects to really put on a show for fight fans.
“We’re getting each other in our prime,” Mayer said. “You’re getting this fight while we’re both still very strong and
dominant and there’s no way you’re not going to get an action-packed fight from us. I’m predicting female fight of the year, 100%.“
Cameron, for her part, says facing Mayer will only serve to bring out the best in herself, as she expects to rise to the occasion against a credible opponent. She would also add that the fight represents the best fighting the best and that can only benefit the sport of boxing, encouraging more to put pen to paper in order to make the big fights happen.
In this particular matchup Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) and Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs) will be fighting with the WBC, WBA, and WBO super welterweight titles
