Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we are talking about Mizzou Football (kickers).
Despite a dominant performance and victory by the Missouri Tigers on Thursday against Central Arkansas; one thing went wrong.
Drinkwitz announced during media availability on Tuesday that R-sophomore K Blake Craig will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
It’s quite the blow for the team
as Craig — a second-year starter — has started in 16 games with a near perfect 36-37 extra point percentage. He has also tallied six field goals over 50 yards.
The team will likely look to true freshman kicker Robert Meyer, who went 4-for-4 on extra kicks in his collegiate debut.
While this isn’t ideal for Mizzou, there are a lot of positive takeaways from Week 1; but the real test is this Saturday.

This marks the fourth time that Mizzou has hosted “SEC Nation.” and first time since 2019. Matthew Gustafson has more on our Rock M Nation feed.
This isn’t an everyday occurrence; the atmosphere at Memorial Stadium should be electric on Saturday.
Mizzou’s game against Central Arkansas happened. Within the happening, several very good things happened, all while some not so good things happened. Fortunately for the Tigers, more good things than not so good things happened and, ultimately, the end result was good for the Tigers. And if that ain’t the stupidest way you could sum up a game of football, I’m not sure what is.
Well this is one way to say Missouri won the football game.
After a slow start where he only ran for more than 5 yards once (and twice for zero), Ahmad Hardy showed he was as advertised, bowling over worn out Central Arkansas defenders for 82 of his 101 yards in the 3rd quarter.
Ahmad Hardy gave Mizzou fans a quarter to remember when everybody was talking about his slow first half…
Mmm, yeah, that’s just about how I thought it might go for him. In the moment I was thinking to myself, “Shoot, he’s gonna catch him,” without realizing Richesson took the silliest angle, from a physics perspective, and ended up bouncing off of our beautiful freshman son like an overcooked meatball. But I can’t knock the effort, so nearly full marks to the score. 18/20
This entire column cracked me up. I highly recommend checking this out.
On the 2025 Jayhawks: “They did an excellent job rebuilding the roster from last year. I think their quarterback [Jalon Daniels] is a terrific player. He’s back to his former self to I think maybe two years ago, going into preseason, he was two in the preseason Heisman rankings, and he’s returned to that form, in my opinion.”
Mizzou will have its hands full trying to stop Jalon Daniels at quarterback. Drinkwitz isn’t the first person to praise another teams quarterback.
Simply put, the unit will need to be much more disciplined come Saturday in the heated Border War rivalry against the Jayhawks. The good news is that Thursday’s performance was only Week 1 and there’s certainly time to improve.
The offensive line is definitely still one of the problems that the Tigers need to address after numerous penalties during Week 1. It’ll be something to watch during the kU game.
On Dominic Giudice: “I like to call Dom the big, happy Italian. He’s bringing people with him early in the weight room, to breakfast at JoJo’s. He’s kind of anywhere and everywhere, bringing guys with him, watching extra film. He’s been there when it’s gone the right way and played for [the national title.] I think our guys have a tone of respect for him, and he’s done a great job, to his credit, of building those relationships with those guys and pushing them.”
Welp, I guess Dominic Giudice is a big, happy Italian! Seriously though, I do like him and think if he can clean up a little bit he’ll be really solid this season.
Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzou football discussion in forums ahead of kickoff against KU.
