After falling in their series against Indiana last weekend 2-1, Rutgers baseball returned to the Garden State and defeated in state rival Seton Hall 12-7 in midweek action in South Orange. The Scarlet Knights scored 10 runs in the first two innings and held on the rest of the way to secure the 12-7 victory.
In the first inning, Charlie Meglio batted in Peyton Bonds before running home himself off a wild pitch. Matt Chatelle singled in two before a sacrifice fly by Julius Rosado made it 5-0.

bats would continue to thunder in the second, Chatelle batted in another pair with a two run single before Rosado batted in three off a double.
Yomar Carreras hit an RBI single in the third and Rosado drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth to make it 12 runs on the day.
After the Knights offensive explosion in the first and second, Seton Hall was able to outscore the Knights 5 to 2 throughout the remainder of the game never was able to seriously challenge the Rutgers lead.
Rosado finished the day with 5 RBI’s while Chatelle finished with four.
On the mound, Tyler Kane earned the win for Rutgers thanks to three scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit on the day.
Up next, the Knights have their most difficult opponent of the year as they are slated for a weekend series against No.1 UCLA. First pitch for that series will be on Friday, April 10th, at 6 ppm at Bainton Field.
