Newcastle United might not be signing first-team-ready players, but they surely are filling their developmental pipeline with promising youngsters.
This time, the club has reportedly secured another highly regarded young prospect from Spain in a forward from La Liga side Levante.
According to ESPN’s Javier Rodríguez Pascual (known as Rodra), Newcastle has completed the signing of 19-year-old striker Afner
Ca after the forward left La Liga side Levante as a free agent.
According to Chronicle Live, the Magpies beat competition from both Valencia and Villarreal to land the Guinea-Bissau youngster, who has reportedly agreed a five-year contract at St. James’ Park.
Standing 6-foot-4, Ca primarily plays as a center forward but is also capable of operating on the right wing, giving Newcastle another versatile attacking option within the academy setup, although skewing a bit older than your usual prospect.
According to the reports, the teenager only recently turned 19 before completing the move and is expected to join Newcastle’s Under-21 squad for the upcoming campaign.
Ca becomes the latest addition to the club’s growing collection of young talent after Newcastle also moved to sign Arsenal prospect Kyran Thompson earlier this month.
Although Newcastle has yet to officially announce the signing, the club has often landed academy players without making them public, as other outlets have reported the moves elsewhere.
