One of the newest additions to the Pittsburgh Steelers has weighed in on the ongoing uncertainty surrounding veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Appearing on Good Morning Football, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. addressed the situation candidly, acknowledging that even those inside the locker room remain in the dark about Rodgers’ future.
“You know, I have no idea,” Pittman said when asked who he expects to be under center. “I got a chance to talk to Aaron, and we did not talk anything about football.
I’m no stranger to quarterback turnover. Whatever happens, we’re gonna roll with that, and it’s gonna be great.”
Rodgers has yet to publicly decide whether he will return, leaving the Steelers—and much of the league—waiting as the offseason progresses. Pittman, however, made it clear he understands the reality of the situation when it comes to a player of Rodgers’ stature.
“Aaron’s gonna do what he wants,” Pittman added. “I don’t think that I could convince him any other way because Aaron’s done more than just about any other NFL player in the league. If he’s ready to come back, then he’ll be back, and if he’s not, we’ll roll with what we got.”
As it stands, the Steelers’ quarterback room includes Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Skylar Thompson—a group that lacks the résumé and star power of Rodgers. While Pittman didn’t directly comment on that trio, his remarks reflect a level of adaptability shaped by his time with the Indianapolis Colts, where quarterback turnover has been a constant.
Still, it’s fair to assume that when the Steelers acquired Pittman this offseason, the vision likely included a more settled situation under center. Whether that ultimately includes Rodgers remains the defining question.
Pittsburgh would ideally have clarity before the upcoming NFL Draft, but as Pittman alluded to, Rodgers operates on his own timeline. Until then, the Steelers—and their new receiver—are left preparing for every possible outcome.
