Eagles Question of the Day:
Head over to The Feed and weigh in with your answer and explanation!
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Eagles-Commanders preview: 5 things to watch – PhillyVoice I’ve been asked if the
Eagles should worry about retribution from the Commanders, with their season over and the Eagles’ playoff season just beginning. If Quinn gets some revenge on the Eagles, it’ll be against their second and third stringers. Like, what are they going to do? Dive at Jahan Dotson’s knees? But also, this team has done their share of talking in advance of Eagles-Commanders matchups in the past. During the week leading up to the NFC Championship Game, for example, Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt gave a tough guy interview about how his players were going to hit Jalen Hurts all day. The Commanders strike me as a fake tough team. They can’t wait to be on a plane to Cabo. They aren’t going to do a damn thing.
Eagles mailbag: Potential playoff opponents, the benefits of rest and more – BGN
@302czar.bsky.social: What are you hoping to see out of the receivers with McKee in there on Sunday? Darius Cooper has been on the field for 21 percent of the Eagles’ offensive snaps this season, but has just six targets. Given what I imagine is a decent rapport with McKee in practice given their respective spots on the depth chart, I could see him having himself a nice day against a Washington defense that’s 28th in passing yards allowed and 29th in passing touchdowns allowed. In an ode to Twin Peaks, perhaps we can get an “Agent Cooper” nickname going for him, too.
In Roob’s Eagles Observations: Appreciating an overlooked group of coaches – NBCSP
One group that doesn’t get enough credit is Vic Fangio’s position coaches. Fangio is a genius, but he’s got a tremendous group of assistants that are outstanding hands-on teachers and football minds. Defensive tackle coach and senior defensive assistant Clint Hurtt has worked wonders with this young group of interior linemen in his two years with the Eagles, linebackers coach Bobby King, also in his second year here, has his group playing lights out, secondary coach Christian Parker is the best in the business and has terrific assistants himself in safeties coach Joe Kaspar and corners coach Roy Anderson, and then there’s edge rush coach Jeremiah Washburn, who came here under Doug Pederson and has consistently produced outstanding pass rushers. It’s an impressive group, and when you look at what this defense has accomplished over the last two years, these position coaches are a huge part of it.
Eagles-Commanders weather: Philadelphia eyes No. 2 seed in windy finale – NJ.com
Philadelphia prepares for a cold and blustery Sunday as the Eagles host the Washington Commanders in the regular-season finale at Lincoln Financial Field. Early morning snow flurries are possible between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., though no accumulation is expected. Temperatures will climb to a high of 38 degrees by mid-afternoon, but gusty west-northwest winds up to 29 mph will keep the RealFeel in the 20s for much of the day, according to AccuWeather.
Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears Week 18 preview: 3 key stats – Pride Of Detroit
Under Dan Campbell, the Detroit Lions have made a habit of playing meaningful games in Week 18. This time, however, the stakes are far less inspiring. Detroit enters the season finale with only marginal incentives remaining: the possibility of a more favorable fourth-place schedule in 2026, slight draft positioning improvements, and additional snaps for a few unproven players. The Lions will head to the chilly confines of Soldier Field with fans stuck in a Twilight Zone–like emptiness and confusion, closing out the season by shifting focus toward fudging free agency numbers and making mock drafts as the primary points of intrigue. Despite several injuries and the subtle benefits that can accompany a loss, Campbell’s team is still expected to compete with their “never say die” attitude, with most remaining starters available. Detroit sits on the brink of a four-game losing streak, is 1–4 in divisional play, and will face a Chicago Bears team motivated to secure the NFC’s No. 2 seed.
Cowboys fans not feeling it when it comes to franchise direction – Blogging The Boys
All season long we’ve been asking Cowboys fans how confident they were in the direction of the team. If you graph the results, they will closely follow wins and losses. There are some variables, like the close loss to the Philadelphia Eagles to start the season. Going into that game, on the heels of trading Micah Parsons, the team only had 35% confidence from fans. After losing 24-20, confidence rose to 68%. The next week Dallas beat the New York Giants in overtime, but actually dropped the confidence back to 38%. Confidence reached a season-low 7% when the Cowboys got smacked around by the Chicago Bears in Week 3. Confidence reached a season-high of 82% when the Cowboys made their mini-run after the bye and trade deadline. That was the time when they were in play for a playoff spot. The loss to the Detroit Lions sent that crashing back to 35%.
Washington Commanders Coaching Rumors: Moving on from Kliff Kingsbury? – Hogs Haven
Washington could also need losing offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury if he decides to leave for a head coaching opportunity after the season ends. He received interest from several teams last year, but the Commanders were in a deep playoff run, and he told reporters he was focused on the team. He made similar comments on Thursday, saying he was focused on this week’s game, and getting 39-year old veteran QB Josh Johnson ready for his second start. Kingsbury is also still getting paid head coach money from his extension with the Arizona Cardinals for next season. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini says there might be another reason the Commanders and Kliff Kingsbury part ways soon: “Some in the building say there’s been a disconnect between Kingsbury and general manager Adam Peters.“
NFL contract incentives tracker: Which players can cash in during Week 18? – NFL.com
DEEBO SAMUEL — INCENTIVE AT STAKE: $200,000 for 800 receiving yards. STILL NEEDS: 93 receiving yards. Samuel has recorded 93 or more receiving yards in only one game this season — against the Chargers in Week 5. The Eagles, meanwhile, have allowed 93 or more receiving yards to nine different players through 16 games (tied for the fourth most), including 101 to the Bills’ Brandin Cooks in Week 17.
NY Giants keeping Joe Schoen can work, if they get the right head coach – Big Blue View
As the final day of the 2025-26 NFL regular season dawns, it appears that the New York Giants are going to retain embattled general manager Joe Schoen. Report after report in recent days has indicated that despite overseeing a team that has gone 12-38 since the beginning of the 2023 season that is the choice the Giants intend to make. Dianna Russini of The Athletic joined a chorus on NFL insiders reporting similar information when she wrote on Saturday that Schoen “appears to be safe for now.” That will not be a popular decision with many in the Giants’ fan base and media. I certainly understand why. There has been too much losing the last three seasons. The GM’s personnel miscues, and maybe his desire to hire Brian Daboll as head coach in 2022 instead of Brian Flores, have contributed. The Giants, though, appear willing to ride with Schoen. At least a little bit longer. It is a decision I can understand. I might even go so far as to say that it is the right decision. Probably. Until I change my mind. No, seriously, I think that given where they are the shortest path to success for the Giants likely involves keeping Schoen and pairing him with the right coach. If you believe, as ownership clearly indicated it does when they fired Daboll and announced that Schoen would lead the search for a new coach, there is talent on the roster that has not been maximized, that’s an argument for keeping Schoen.
NFL Draft 2026: How the Giants can clinch the No. 1 pick in Week 18 – SB Nation
The New York Giants improved to 3-13 in Week 17 with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders. But that win could prove costly when it comes to the 2026 NFL Draft. The win put the Raiders into the top spot with one week remaining, as Las Vegas dropped to 2-14 on the season. That means the Raiders can clinch the No. 1 pick this weekend with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Giants still have an outside shot at the top pick. Here is how New York can clinch the No. 1 pick for the 2026 NFL Draft here in Week 18.
