Bayern Munich could soon have a new shareholder with a very familiar name.
According to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), the 5% stake in FC Bayern AG is not being acquired by existing Platinum Partner Viessmann Climate Solutions, but by Max Viessmann through the Viessmann Generations Group, a Munich-based private equity and investment company.
The Viessmann family has already been closely connected to Bayern Munich through its corporate partnership, but this would take that relationship to another level.
The
Viessmann Group sold its climate solutions division to Carrier Global in 2023 for around €12 billion, while retaining shares in the company. Since then, Max Viessmann has invested a significant portion of the proceeds into sustainable ecosystems, co-investments and equity stakes.
Now, Bayern Munich is set to become another major investment.
There is also a clear connection between Viessmann and the club beyond business. Max Viessmann has been a member of the Administrative Advisory Board of FC Bayern e.V. since spring 2026.
For Bayern Munich, selling another 5% of the AG brings additional capital while keeping the club firmly in control. For Viessmann, it represents a significant investment in one of Germany’s most valuable sporting institutions.
A partnership that started in the commercial space could now become a much deeper relationship.
