The follow-up to the most impressive and dramatic regular season series in the 21st century for the Seattle Mariners? An off day, followed by hosting one of the worst teams in MLB history at any time. The Colorado Rockies have spent the second half of the season or so being merely a traditionally quite bad team instead of their historic pace, and they’ve safely eluded the ignominy of setting a record for full-season futility. They’ve taken games off the Astros, Brewers, Cubs, Dodgers, Guardians,
Padres, Reds, and Yankees this year (as well as other, non-playoff-bound clubs), so a sweep or series win is not fait accompli. However, it’ll be rare to see a series where Seattle matches up as strongly against an opponent, and with clinching possibilities abounding this week, it would be nice for the M’s to romp accordingly.
Lineups

On the hill tonight are McCade Brown for the Rox and Bryce Miller for the M’s. Learn more about them in Jake’s always-indispensable series preview.

The Mariners announced their minor league award winners today! Kate is putting together the full breakdown, which should be up soon with quotes.
Recommended Reading
- Bryan Woo will NOT require an IL stint, which is great news, as Woo and the team feel satisfied with his healing. However, they’ll cautiously handle their 2025 ace, effectively shutting him down for the regular season and having him prepare for a playoff role as that may manifest.
- Kate has the rest of the injury updates from Justin Hollander in the linked blurb, including some possible Gregory Santos and Logan Evans windows for bullpen use in the playoffs if both players can find their stride in the next week. Jackson Kowar and Trent Thornton, however, don’t look likely to throw.
- Beyond the series preview, if you’ve not refreshed on the rooting scenarios, there’s plenty going on already today that has implications for Seattle this week.
- All three Dodgers games for the regular season’s final weekend are SOLD OUT per the Mariners, with tickets still available for the Rockies set at a more affordable clip than the secondary market may feature.
