The Athletic’s Jeff Howe interviewed 29 NFL general managers, head coaches and executives to rank the top five front offices in football right now. Based on the accumulation of votes, the Philadelphia
Eagles ranked first, followed by the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers.
That’s not a bad turnaround for Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, who has rebounded from the 2021 draft class that only has one remaining player on Green Bay’s roster: linebacker Isaiah McDuffie.
Here are a couple of quotes about the Packers from the article:
“That may be the most impressive group outside of the Eagles over the last few years,” an executive said.
…
“It’s insane how well they’ve drafted,” an executive said. “They have truly crushed the past couple of years.”
…
“I have a lot of respect for what they do top to bottom,” an executive said. “They’ve done some things that people questioned, but they do it right. They got the quarterback right. They’re just really good evaluators, and they have some highly respected people in that building.”
Despite going into rebuild mode after the cap debt that the team had built up toward the end of the Aaron Rodgers era, the Packers improved from 8-9 in Rodgers’ last year with the team to 9-8 in 2023 and then 11-6 in 2024. Green Bay has made the playoffs in five of the last six seasons, all under Gutekunst.
