Today, we will find out the final six teams that will complete the field of 48 for the 2026 World Cup. In the UEFA Playoff C final, we will learn if Kosovo or Türkiye will join the United States, Paraguay, and Australia in Group D.
Kosovo earned the right to host this playoff final by beating Slovakia 4-3 on the road in a wild match. Ranked 80th in the FIFA world rankings, Kosovo has the chance to head to the World Cup for the first time ever. The lowest ranked team remaining with a chance to qualify
for the tournament, they will have to once again play a tremendous match, the most important in their nation’s history.
Türkiye was able to dispatch Romania at home 1-0. Ranked 25th in the world, they have only been to the World Cup twice before and haven’t played since they finished 3rd in 2002. They hope to return to the field and add to what would be arguably the strongest group at the World Cup.
Will Kosovo become one of the smallest nations to qualify for a World Cup? Or will Türkiye make its return to the field after a 24 year absence? We will find out this afternoon in Pristina.
