Full disclosure: We won’t have boots on the ground in Ashburn, VA, for Wednesday’s OTA, so we’ll rely on Commanders beat reporters like Nicki Jhabvala, John Keim, JP Finlay, Zach Selby and Ben Standig to be our eyes, ears and question askers. Follow those respected reporters if you don’t already.
The Washington Commanders are in Ashburn, VA today for the first round of offseason team activities(OTAs). Head coach Dan Quinn spoke to the media before today’s practice and talked about the changes that
have been made to the team, on the field and on the sidelines.
A lot of today’s questions were about starting QB Jayden Daniels, and his return from an injury-shortened second NFL season. Quinn was asked if Daniels had something to prove after last year, and he said that was a question for JD. He went on to praise Daniels’ competitive nature, his ability to deliver in clutch moments, and everyone around him sees his need to constantly improve himself and his game.
Daniels will be working under first-year OC David Blough who spent the last two seasons as the Commanders assistant QB coach. Quinn said that Daniels will be under center more than he has in first two seasons under former OC Kliff Kingsbury. Communication will be huge when installing a new system with a number of new players on both sides of the ball. The team won’t be able to go full speed during these practices, but the team will get valuable time together as they continue the new installs.
