The finale of the three-game series, and the end of the last road trip of the season takes place today as the Athletics take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The A’s bats were silenced yesterday facing highly touted rookie Bubba Chandler and a cadre of relievers. A’s hitters will have to do better today if they want to take the series and head home to West Sacramento on a high note.
Taking the mound for the A’s today is 27-year-old righty Mitch Spence. Spence is 3-5 on the season
with a 4.48 ERA in seven starts and thirty appearances. He’s also logged one save this year. He pitched against the Pirates once in his career, April 30, 2024 and went three scoreless innings giving up just one hit and grabbing the win.
He’ll go up against 25-year-old righty Mike Burrows for the Pirates. Burrows is 2-4 this season with a 4.10 ERA in twenty-one games. This will be his nineteenth start of the season.
Burrows will face this lineup for Mark Kotsay’s A’s today:
