The Detroit Tigers extended their win streak to four games on Friday night with a 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners, remaining perfect in the month of June so far. Framber Valdez gave his team five innings of one-run ball, the bullpen did its job, and the offense continued to produce crooked numbers.
This squad actually looks like a major league team again.
The Motor City Kitties can clinch their second-straight series win on Saturday afternoon behind right-hander Keider Montero, who continues
to give Detroit quality outings. In fact, the 25-year-old’s last start was his best of the season, throwing six shutout innings on two hits and zero walks while striking out four in a 2-1 loss against the Chicago White Sox.
Montero previously faced Seattle on May 12 of last season, when he allowed three runs on five hits (one home run) and one walk while striking out two over three frames. He did not figure in the final decision that day — a 15-7 loss at Comerica Park.
For the Mariners, Bryce Miller will climb the mound for his fourth start of the 2026 campaign. The 27-year-old has thrown five-plus innings in all four of his appearances so far — including his one in relief — keeping his opponents off the scoreboard while posting high strikeout and low walk numbers.
Miller has not pitched against the Tigers since Aug. 15, 2024, when he tossed seven frames of shutout ball on just two hits while striking out nine. Detroit ultimately won that game, 2-1.
