What a busy Sunday for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Shortly after Tech received a commitment from Penn State EDGE Mylachi Williams, his former Nittany Lions teammate, Cortez Harris, revealed that he, too,
was following head coach James Franklin to Blacksburg.
Harris is a 6-foot-3, 245-pound EDGE from Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was a 4-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class. Harris appeared in three games for the Nittany Lions in 2025, allowing him to redshirt. He will have four years of eligibility remaining once he arrives in Blacksburg.
Harris is yet another high-upside pass rusher for the Hokies. That makes four since the transfer portal opened on January 2. He’s also the eighth former Penn State player — and counting — to head south to Virginia Tech.
Here are some Harris highlights from his high-school career.
There’s a very real chance that the four incoming edge rushers will sit atop Virginia Tech’s depth chart next season.
A good day keeps getting better for Franklin and the Hokies.
