There are few things more exciting than the roar of the crowd after a walk-off win at home. It may have been a comeback win, a game that went back and forth before the home team was ultimately victorious or a pitcher’s duel that was finally settled in the late innings. The Cubs were able to notch seven walk-off wins at Wrigley Field during the 2025 season, let’s look back at each one.
April 22 vs. the Dodgers
This was a wild affair with the Dodgers scoring three runs in the top of the first and the Cubs answering with five runs in the bottom of the inning. The back and forth continued until it looked like the Dodgers put this game out of reach scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning to make it 10-7. The Cubs came back to tie it on a Miguel Amaya home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, which set the stage for this Ian Happ walk-off single [VIDEO].
May 13 vs. the Marlins
Miami held a commanding 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, when reliever Jesús Tinoco entered the game for the save. Carson Kelly reached first on an error by the shortstop and then Dansby Swanson drew a walk. This was Moisés Ballesteros MLB debut and his fielder’s choice resulted in Dansby being out at second with Ballesteros and Kelly at the corners. Vidal Bruján came in to pinch run for Ballesteros. Nico Hoerner singled to score Carson Kelly, but the big blow came from Justin Turner, who hit a double to score the tying and winning runs [VIDEO].
May 27 vs. the Rockies
The Rockies tied this game in seventh inning and it went to extra innings. Neither team scored until the 11th inning when the Rockies scored the Manfred Man with some small ball. The Cubs played some small ball of their own, but their Manfred Man was Pete Crow-Armstrong, who immediately stole third base before being singled in by Michael Busch. Jon Berti came in as a pinch runner for Busch, Nico drew a walk and Matt Shaw was the hero of the day hitting a single to score Berti [VIDEO].
June 15 vs. the Pirates
Both the Pirates and the Cubs put up two runs in the first inning and then failed to score after that, which sent this affair into extra innings on Father’s Day. Justin Turner had made the last out of the ninth inning, so Bruján entered the game as a pinch runner at second base to begin the bottom of the 10th. Former Pirates’ closer David Bednar came in for the Buccos and intentionally walked pinch hitter Kyle Tucker. With Berti at the plate, both Tucker and Bruján stole bases to put runners at second and third. Berti ultimately struck out, but Ian Happ once again answered the call with a single to score the game-winning run [VIDEO].
July 3 vs. the Guardians.
Neither the Cubs nor the Guardians could score a run in regulation during this summer game. Guardians rookie Joey Cantillo threw 3.1 innings, allowing two hits and three walks, but striking out five. Meanwhile, Cubs rookie Cade Horton threw a seven inning scoreless gem allowing five hits, walking two and also striking out five. The bullpens kept this game tied at zero until the bottom of the tenth inning, which Nico Hoerner started at second base as the ghost runner. He advanced to third on a Michael Busch ground out. Matt Shaw then hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field for a Cubs victory and his second walk-off hit of the season [VIDEO].
August 3 vs. the Orioles
Speaking of guys getting their second walk-off of the season. On August 3 the Baltimore Orioles tied the game at three in the top of the ninth, spoiling a Daniel Palencia save, but the Cubs still had some fight in them. Dansby Swanson reached base on an error in the bottom of the frame and then Justin Turner pinch hit for Michael Busch and sent the first pitch he saw out of the ballpark to notch his second walk-off with the Cubs in 2025 [VIDEO].
September 1 vs. the Braves
The Braves scored first and were ahead 6-1 as late as the top of the fifth inning, but the Cubs chipped away at that lead. Matt Shaw hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth and Dansby Swanson tacked on a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 6-4 ballgame. And then, Carson Kelly entered the frame. In the bottom of the eighth he hit a game-tying two-run home run that ultimately sent this one into extra innings before also notching the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th [VIDEO].
