What is the story about?
Marshall defensive tackle Sid Kaba has committed to transferring to Minnesota. He recorded 18 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and .5 sacks this season. He becomes the second Thundering Herd defensive lineman to sign with the Gophers this offseason, joining Naquan Crowder.
Kaba has two years of eligibility remaining.
It’s clear the defensive tackle position was
a priority for head coach P.J. Fleck, as the Gophers have signed Kaba, Crowder, and Xion Chapman (FIU). Minnesota’s top four defensive tackles from this season are all out of eligibility, so they need help immediately. Redshirt freshmen Jaylin Hicks and Riley Sunram are the only other defensive tackles on the roster who saw the field this year.
