LFC planning massive Olise swoop? (EPL Index)
Liverpool’s interest in Bayern Munch star Michael Olise is already well-known, but the amount that the Reds might be willing to offer for him has not been discussed…until now.
Per one report, Liverpool is willing to pay as much as €172 million for Olise:
Liverpool are preparing to make a historic move in the transfer market as they line up a £150 million bid for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise. According to Fichajes.Net, the Reds have placed the Frenchman at the top of their list as they prepare
for life without Mohamed Salah, whose Anfield future remains in question beyond the summer of 2026.
The Reds are expected to spend heavily to ensure their attacking line retains its potency after Salah’s eventual departure. The Egyptian forward, now 33, remains under contract until 2026, but his long-term future at Anfield is far from certain. Reports have suggested that he could seek new challenges next summer after a glittering spell with the club.
Liverpool’s willingness to spend in excess of £100 million demonstrates how determined they are to stay competitive at the top level. The club has been clear about aligning recruitment with Arne Slot’s vision for a dynamic, fluid attack that continues to excite supporters and worry defences.
That number seems…ridiculous. Olise is awesome, but after a summer where it just spent its ass off (scientific term), it is hard to think that Liverpool can ramp it up again with another massive expenditure.
Bayern eyeing Maignan again? (TEAMtalk’s Rudy Galetti)
In the past, Bayern Munich was rumored to have its eye on AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, but now, the Bavarians could get a little more serious given that Manuel Neuer could retire and Maignan will be a free transfer:
Bayern Munich are stepping up their search for a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer, whose legendary spell with the Bavarian side is slowly approaching its final chapters.
TEAMtalk is aware that among the top names on the club’s shortlist is AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan — one of the most consistent and complete goalkeepers in European football.
Maignan is under contract with AC Milan until June 2026, but talks over a potential renewal have slowed down in recent weeks.
This situation has opened the door for possible changes next summer, especially if no agreement is reached soon. In the most optimistic scenario for interested clubs, Maignan could even leave as a free agent in 2026. Several Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation, but Bayern Munich remains an option for the AC Milan No.1.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 8, Episode 13 (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich coasted into this international break with a 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and immediately (and rightfully) hit Oktoberfest before the squad breaks up for a week-and-a-half for another international break.
It feels like a good time to appreciate these good times and examine why it all has come together under Vincent Kompany so far this season. This is what we have on tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Winning — and some personnel moves — have cured all at Bayern Munich. The winning formula is more complicated than that, but let’s explore why things are going so well and how to keep them moving in that direction.
- Some Bayern players need a break. It is a new world for several player and a tough adjustment, but it could be the difference between winning the Champions League and flaming out early.
- What’s wrong with Florian Wirtz? The former Bayern Munich transfer target got benched at Liverpool, proving again that fit is sometime more important than finances in a footballer’s career.
- Manuel Neuer to get a new deal? Bayern Munich might just be kicking it around.
Barca, Flick want Schlotterbeck (Sport via ESPN)
Nico Schlotterbeck is reportedly taking his time to think about his future during a period where Borussia Dortmund wants to give him a contract extension. Is interest from FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick the reason why? Maybe:
Barcelona are planning to make a move for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck in the summer of 2026. The 25 year old would be available for around €40m.
Looking back: Bayern’s interest in Huijsen last summer (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
How close did Bayern Munich come to getting Dean Huijsen before his move to Real Madrid? Let Sport Bild’s Christian Falk break it down:
It’s true that Bayern Munich were interested in Dean Huijsen. The Spaniard was number one on the list for the defence. Bayern Munich have had an eye on the centre-back for quite some time, and they wanted to go for him this summer. However, the problem was they couldn’t manage to sell Kim Min-jae – and they needed this money to go for Dean Huijsen and activate his release clause. At the end, Real Madrid paid €63m [£54.9m]. But he was not only in the focus of Bayern Munich! Borussia Dortmund wanted the player last summer, when they had to decide between Waldemar Anton, the German national player, and Huijsen, but it was too late. If clubs like Real Madrid knock on the door, thing get difficult for Bayern Munich. But also his agent, Ali Barat, confirmed that Bayern Munich had asked for him. There were also Liverpool, Tottenham, and Newcastle all involved in the conversation. However, in the end, Dean Huijsen decided for Real Madrid.
Bayern did discuss handing Eric Dier a contract extension. They needed another defender, but the need was greater in the forward line. Bayern Munich didn’t want to spend so much money also on the back four. But you see, they have a shortlist for defenders. I think Dean Huijsen will now be off the mark for quite a long time. That said, there is a player in the Premier League they still have an eye on.

Hamann made case for Schade (Sky Germany’s Didi Hamann)
One omission from the German national team roster that Didi Hamann was not happy with was Brentford’s Kevin Schade:
When I see Julian Nagelsmann ‘s squad nomination for the upcoming international matches, I ask myself, “What about Schade?” The player is currently our most successful player. He scored eleven goals last season for a mid-table English team, Brentford. Not many people manage that feat in England. I would have loved to have seen him in the squad. Otherwise, the squad is fine as it is, in my opinion.
I hope for better performances from our team than recently, because we should slowly reach a certain standard and normal form.
Madrid still wants Rodri (ESPN)
Real Madrid is not giving up its long-running pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri:
Real Madrid are plotting a £130 million summer move for Manchester City defensive midfielder Rodri, according to the Daily Star. City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is keen to keep hold of the 2024 Ballon D’or winner, but there is a growing feeling that the 29-year-old Spain international could be tempted by a return to his hometown. City are keen to open talks with Rodri about his future and would be willing to improve his contract both financially, and beyond 2027.
This could be a development for Bayern Munich to watch.
