Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is refusing to get carried away after seeing his team move 11 points clear at the top of the table in Spain with a 2-0 win over Getafe.
The victory means that Barca are inching closer to retaining their title and going back-to-back under the German coach.
Flick said his players were happy to celebrate the win after the game but insists there is still work to be done.
“We won, and that’s what we wanted: to play our game and play football. We celebrated the victory in the dressing
room, but not the title. We were only focused on getting the job done today,” he told reporters.
“I’m very happy with how we played here, with and without the ball. We did very well because it’s not easy. We’ll celebrate whatever comes up at the end of the season, but not today. We were good on all those long balls, and the team was very focused and played very well.”
“We have the quality and the confidence to play against this team, which is essential. We’ve shown that on the pitch from the very first moment. In recent days, I’ve seen a great atmosphere, positive feelings, and things are improving. I’m very happy for the club and the fans.”
Flick has now given his players a couple of days off to rest and relax before they return to training in midweek to prepare for their next game against Osasuna.
