Good morning, it’s Thursday, January 8th. The Cleveland Cavaliers are 21-17 and play the Minnesota Timberwolves today at 8 PM.
This is Cleveland’s first game against the Wolves. They are on the road today, and then they will return home for another meeting with the Timberwolves. That game is on Saturday at 1 PM. It will be the final time these two teams play each other this season — barring an NBA Finals matchup.
The Cavs were 2-0 against Minnesota last season. They were pretty good in 2025, as you
might remember.
Today’s Game of the Day
- Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz – 9 PM, NBA League Pass
Truth be told, there’s not much on tonight. The NBA slate is a bit weaker than usual. Cleveland’s game against Minnesota might be the best game of the day — but I figured I’d avoid being a homer.
You already know why anyone would tune into a Mavericks game versus the Jazz. We just want to see No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg play basketball. There are, of course, other reasons one would watch this game, but Flagg has to be the main selling point.
Dallas is 14-23 this season and the Jazz are 12-23.
The Rest of the NBA Slate
- Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Hornets – 7 PM
- Miami Heat at Chicago Bulls – 8 PM
I told you. There’s not much else to watch on League Pass tonight.
