Worcester: W, 15-5 (BOX SCORE)

The July 4th fireworks came early for the WooSox against the Syracuse Mets (Mets AAA), with an offensive explosion led by a double-double from Mikey Romero and Allan Castro, who had two homers each. Every starter but Old Man Matt Thaiss got a hit, more than half the starters notched more than one, and Castro’s 6-3-4-5 box score is one of the more crooked-number heavy ones you’re gonna see. Raymond Burgos was sorta meh on a day where it wouldn’t matter, but the bullpen was largely solid on a day where they
really just had to show up.
Portland: L, 12-8 (BOX SCORE)

The bats were similarly alive in Portland, but it wasn’t enough as Sox pitching had a tuff time. Homers from Caden Rose, Franklin Arias and Nate Baez weren’t sufficient to overcome ghastly pitching performances from Michael Sansone, Caleb Bolden and Erik Rivera, who were manhandled by the Altoona Curve (Pirates AA). The game was 9-0 before the Dogs managed to score, tho they did manage to get it down to 9-8 late in the game before Rivera gave up the goat and put things out of reach.
Greenville: L, 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

The only close game in the system went against the Greenville Drive, who fell in extras to the Winston-Salem Dash (White Sox A+). Yoelin Cespedes went deep for Greenville and while starter Dylan Brown struggled, Joe Vogatsky threw four shutout innings in relief of him to help push the game toward the 10th. Unfortunately, Steven Brooks made a hash of things in the bonus frame, leaving a bases-loaded mess for Tyler Davis, who walked in the winning run.
Salem: L, 11-3 (BOX SCORE)

It was a rough night for the RidgeYaks against the GreenJackets (Braves A), at least in the second half of the game, when a close contest was ripped open against Salem starter Leighton Finley in the fifth inning. The bullpen didn’t fare much better, and outside of homers from Avinson Pinto and Kleyver Salazar, there was precious little to write home about in this one.
