AEW is moving quickly toward their first PPV of the year with Revolution on March 15 from Los Angeles, CA. Storyline directions are churning, and a handful of bouts have been confirmed. The lineup currently includes:
- AEW World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Hangman Page with a stipulation
- AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. Young Bucks
- AEW Continental Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita with no time limit
Hangman Page earned his world title shot by defeating Andrade at Grand Slam Australia. The cowboy chatted with MJF to arrange the Revolution duel. Hangman wanted to make it bigger, while MJF was content to keep it a standard wrestling match. Page sweetened the offer with a caveat that
nobody asked for. If Hangman loses, then he will never challenge for the AEW World Championship ever again. That caught MJF’s attention. With encouragement from the crowd, Hangman requested Texas Death. MJF chose to mull it over for a week to pick his idea for the stipulation.
Count me in the party of “dumb” people who are confused by all this stipulation jibber-jabber. MJF was kind enough to clarify the process.
Other than filling TV time, I still don’t understand why they’re going through the rigmarole with a choice of stipulations when MJF has the stroke in this scenario. I guess we’ll find out soon enough what AEW has up their sleeve for this story on Dynamite.
The Young Bucks earned their tag title shot by winning a three-way. It’s possible that the PPV contest expands after the Rascalz defeated FTR in an eliminator match. Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz could cash in at Revolution, however, that would water down the feud after FTR shoved the Bucks’ parents and hit a piledriver on their little brother.
Jon Moxley battled Konosuke Takeshita to a 20-minute time limit draw. Mox is unhappy about not getting his win back over Takeshita, so the continental champ demanded unlimited time for the rematch at Revolution. It would be funny, albeit unsatisfying for PPV, if this one ended in two minutes.
Other potential matchups for Revolution include:
- AEW Women’s World Championship: Thekla (c) vs. Thunder Rosa or Kris Statlander
- AEW National Championship: Ricochet (c) vs. Jack Perry
- TNT Championship: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa
- TBS Championship: Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Megan Bayne
- Darby Allin vs. Gabe Kidd with the loser pushing up daises
Thunder Rosa returned from injury, and she’s coming for Thekla. Kris Statlander is still at the top of the scene after losing the gold in a strap match. Even though Jack Perry lost twice already to Ricochet, this feud keeps keeping on. Tommaso Ciampa lost the TNT title to Kyle Fletcher, and he wants Silvey back. Megan Bayne is eyeing the TBS title, and Willow Nightingale is a fighting champion. Gabe Kidd and Darby Allin will fight each other until one is dead.
That leaves Kazuchika Okada’s dance card wide open to defend the AEW International Championship. Nobody comes to mind right away to be the next challenger.
