The Las Vegas Raiders are up early against the Denver Broncos, with the offensive line playing better than expected. However, that situation ended quickly on a third-down sack against Geno Smith.
Raiders
guard Jackson Powers-Johnson suffered an ankle injury during the pass play. He limped off the field and was sent quickly to the locker room on a cart. Powers-Johnson was having a good game and helped Ashton Jeanty score a touchdown on a key block that gave him room for the score. Powers-Johnson is questionable to return. But the Raiders then ruled him out later the second quarter. Now, the team has to hope this is a short-term injury.
The unit is also playing without left tackle Kolton Miller who is on the injured reserve.
For now, the Raiders will have to depend on Alex Cappa to replace Powers-Johnson. Against this dangerous pass rush, it is essential that the former Oregon Duck can find his way back to the field. He will be missed for his attitude and the intensity he brings to the offensive line. Kelly will have to adjust as well, having a depleted offensive line. Hopefully, the Raiders will overcome and continue to move the football.
