What is the story about?
The undercard for Canelo Alvarez’s return to the ring against Christian Mbilli has finally been officially announced.
The card will take place on October 31, live on DAZN via the Ultimate tier for subscribers or pay-per-view, and will feature three world title fights and more.
Here’s the quick rundown:
- Jaime Munguia will make a first defense of his WBA super middleweight title, facing Russia’s Nikita Zon, who is unbeaten but untested. This might seem like an easy title defense for Munguia, but it’s Munguia, whose style can make any fight tough and entertaining, so it absolutely could be a good fight when all is said and done, even if it doesn’t jump off the page on paper.
- Rafael Espinoza will defend the WBO featherweight title against Lorenzo Parra. Espinoza has been pretty dominant since bursting onto the scene with his title win over Robeisy Ramirez in late 2023, and he’ll be a big favorite here, but Parra’s fought his way to it, as far as how boxing actually operates and not in a fantasy land where you climb the ladder like a video game.
- David Picasso returns to Riyadh to take on Carl Martin in what looks like an intriguing super bantamweight matchup, could be a good one.
- Lindolfo Delgado and Arthur Biyarslanov will simultaneously answer the “shit or get off the pot” call by facing one another for the vacant IBF super lightweight title.
- Reito Tsutsumi, the famed “Ring Magazine Ambassador” himself, will take on Raymundo Rojas Garcia. Tsutsumi is a genuinely promising young talent, goofy contract details aside.
There will be four other prelim fights, too.
What do you think of the card? I actually think it’s really solid when compared to the norm, I don’t have much for complaints here on paper. It’s a good looking
show, in my opinion.
