On Tuesday night, the College Football Plaoff committee released its newest set of rankings, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish remain as the #9 ranked team in the country.
Honestly, I’m a little surprised
the committee put Notre Dame at 9 and Alabama at 10. Obviously the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll had the Irish at 9 and Alabama at 10 — but you had to wonder if the playoff committee was going to do the thing and have the swap.
They didn’t.
Almost as important is the Irish being 6 spots ahead of Miami despite the ACC desperately tweeting out a bunch of hate tweets trying to convince the committee to rank the canes ahead of Notre Dame. Those arguements are falling on deaf ears, because it’s been pretty clear since the first set of rankings came out that the committee values Notre Dame as a team much more than any ACC team — because the ACC (in fact) is pretty terrible.
Vegas really loves Notre Dame too. Even at #9, Notre Dame has the fiftyh best odds to win the national championship according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
