Uli Hoeneß is happy with Bayern Munich’s transfer work this summer.
“We’ve had a perfect transfer window, just like last year, bringing in two players who will be very useful to us,” the Bayern honorary president was captured as saying (via @iMiaSanMia).
The Bavarians have added World Cup standouts Nathaniel Brown (Germany) and Immanuel Saibari (Morocco) on deals around €50M each, as well as overseen several outgoings such as Noël Aséko, Daniel Peretz, Alexander Nübel, Jonah Kusi-Asare, Maurice Krattenmacher,
and Lovro Zvonarek. That means the bulk of the summer’s biggest expected sales, from the current senior team roster, has not yet happened.
“Regarding players we sold, the individual fees may have been relatively small, but in the end they still added up to a very respectable amount,” Hoeneß elaborated. “We recently had a meeting with [club president] Herbert Hainer and several members of our supervisory board, and [Eberl] reported that we’ve already generated more than €40 million in income.
“If we can now manage to move one or two more players on, which is what we’d like to do, that would be ideal. But I also want to make one thing absolutely clear: a contract with FC Bayern is sacrosanct. In other words, if we ultimately can’t find a solution, then we have to keep those players.”
Bayern increasingly does not look like it is in the driver’s seat for the remainder of transfer window business. Getting a few more deals over the line would be the cherry on top, but it does not sound like the club is not counting on much.
