Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to know as the Giants get ready to face the Eagles in Philadelphia this Sunday.
John Harbaugh’s Giants take aim at ending 13-game nightmare in Philly | The Record
This is inherited franchise history for John Harbaugh and the 2026 New York Giants, not earned.
But it’s notable history nonetheless, resurfacing every time the Giants’ buses hit the Turnpike and travel to what has become a house of horrors for this organization. The head coaches have changed. The players have changed. So have the circumstances.
Giants are Must-See TV
Mike Lupica: J.J. McCarthy has a Giant shot to flip the script on the Eagles | New York Daily News
The Eagles were supposed to win the NFC again. If they were going to fight for the title in the division, it was supposed to be with the Cowboys. Now those teams have a combined record of 5-11 and the Giants are talking about being buyers at the trade deadline instead of sellers, maybe even with Jonathan Taylor, one of the star running backs of the league, for a long time.
For now, it starts with McCarthy, clearly sold and mightily by one Harbaugh to another. Twenty-three years old. Giving Giants fans the kind of hope that J. Dart did last season. With a chance to be as great an in-season acquisition as the Giants have ever had if he keeps going like this, and if they keep going. Door wide open for the Michigan kid, and his coach, and his new team. They just have to make sure the Eagles don’t slam it in their faces on Sunday.
New York Giants believe Dominic Zvada is ‘long-term answer’ at kicker | USAToday.com
John Harbaugh reaffirmed his confidence in kicker Dominic Zvada on Wednesday, saying the New York Giants are looking for consistent results but are not concerned about the position. The coach noted that the staff continues to evaluate technique and fundamentals, with the clear expectation that kicks will travel straight through the uprights.
“We’re looking for kicks to go between the sticks, right through the upright, straight. Looking for straight kicks,” Harbaugh told reporters. “But you’re also looking at the technique and the fundamentals, but we’re not worried about him.”
What 18 contenders should do at the NFL trade deadline: Who could get aggressive? | ESPN.com
Luxury target: Taylor might cost too much for a New York squad that’s already down its fourth- and fifth-round picks in the 2027 draft, but what about Derrick Henry? If the Ravens decide their season is up without Lamar Jackson on the field, Henry could be a potential trade candidate. He’s owed only $650,000 over the rest of 2026 and $12 million in 2027. And while the future Hall of Famer has struggled for most of the season, playing with a more mobile quarterback in McCarthy might help create some running lanes.
Bargain target: With the Chargers still winless, Harbaugh could call up former Ravens executive Joe Hortiz (and brother Jim Harbaugh) and attempt to make a move for Dalvin Tomlinson. The well-traveled defensive tackle has slipped as a pass rusher from his 2020-24 peak, but Tomlinson would be a rotational player for a Giants team that’s barely getting by on the interior.
NFL Trade Deadline: Biggest needs for all 32 teams | PFF
New York Giants: Defensive Interior. Given how they have played early in the season and the Philadelphia Eagles‘ struggles, the Giants have a serious chance of winning the NFC East. Since it is John Harbaugh’s first year in New York, they probably shouldn’t mortgage the future to get better this season, but they could add someone next to DJ Reader on the defensive line. Reader has earned a 90.4 PFF grade to lead all interior defensive linemen so far this season, but he is their only player at the position to have played at least 50 snaps and earned a PFF grade above 55.0.
Isaiah Likely on trade rumors
Giants must be aggressive, not reckless in 2026 NFL trade deadline pursuits | SNY.tv
External NFL sources, not from within the Giants building, vary in whether they believe a Taylor trade actually gets done. Several sources SNY touched base with are hellbent in their conviction that Harbaugh will do whatever he can to get him, seeing an opportunity for New York to make a run. Others, familiar with what the Colts are asking for, believe the price is so steep Indianapolis isn’t actually interested in dealing him. He’ll remain with them throughout this season, with a trade revisited in March.
Still, their stance to this point is the right one. Do everything you can to help your team accomplish that … within reason. They shouldn’t waver. Harbaugh must fight the temptation to do more over the coming week.
