The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Cincinnati Bengals this afternoon in hopes of getting to 1-1, and they will likely be doing it without cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
It was reported by Tom Pelissero that Porter will likely miss his third straight game to begin the season as he continues seeking a contract extension. In the midst of the ongoing dispute, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that multiple teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, have contacted the Steelers about a trade for
Porter.
“A handful of teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, have begun making inquiries about the availability of Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., league sources told ESPN,” Schefter reports. “The Steelers would be willing to listen to trade offers for Porter, according to sources, but they also would want a strong compensation package if they were to deal the fourth-year star.”
Considering the Steelers’ unwillingness to negotiate in-season, a trade seems to be the most likely ending to this saga.
