Mizzou had to wait until pick 45 to get someone drafted this year. It didn’t have to wait long until a second followed.
With the 46th pick in the NFL Draft, Tampa Bay selected Josiah Trotter.
Trotter chose to forego his final two years of eligibility following a standout season with MU, being named First Team All-SEC after recording 84 total tackles and 13 tackles for loss.
The star linebacker was a menace stopping the run, ranking 15th in the nation with a PFF grade of 89.3 in run defense and anchoring
the second level for a defensive unit that ranked in the top 10 nationally in total defense.
He spent just one season in Columbia after transferring in from West Virginia, where he redshirted his first year due to injury before being named a Freshman All-American by the FWAA (Football Writer of America) and the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2024. Trotter was also named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 that season, when he had 92 tackles and four tackles for loss with the Mountaineers.
The Philadelphia native becomes the third member of his family to join the NFL. His father, Jeremiah Sr., was an two-time All-Pro selection during his 11-year NFL career, and his brother, Jeremiah Jr., currently plays in the league and won the Super Bowl in 2024 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
