Inter forward Lautaro Martinez says that Barcelona were interested in his services this summer but that he didn’t want to leave the Serie A side.
Martinez’s name cropped up as Barcelona went in search of a replacement for Robert Lewandowski and couldn’t find a way to land top target Julian Alvarez from Atletico.
The Argentina international has now been asked about the rumors and says the Catalans were keen to bring him in.
“The rumours about Barcelona were true, but in the end I wanted to stay here
together with my teammates and my fans,” he said.
“For me, Inter is all pride, happiness and the desire to continue .I have chosen to stay here once again, I want to do great things at Inter. Ausilio? I’m so sorry, he’s the one who gave me confidence and the project. I will be forever grateful to him.”
Barcelona ended up going for Gabriel Jesus late in the window. The Brazilian has joined Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon in making the switch to Camp Nou as Hansi Flick revamps his attack for 2026-27.
