That was fun. Everyone predicted that the Cleveland Browns would lose against the Green Bay Packers, even us at Dawgs By Nature. We were wrong. It happens.
The NFL is an exciting league and what makes it so exciting are upsets like this weekend. Week 4 could turn the AFC North on its head in some ways. Wins are hard to come by in the NFL, but we will take those.
Here are the three things that we learned from the Browns win over the Packers that could carry over into this week’s game against the Detroit
Lions:
Offense is still an issue but there are some positives to take away
The Browns offense is rough, there is no need to deny it. However, if you want to look for positives you can find them. The running game has been rough to start the year but you could see the vision for what the Browns are trying to do. Rookie running back Quinshon Judkins is a stud and he brings a physical, violent presence when he runs the ball. Nothing special in terms of a long run yet, he just puts his head down and runs through you:
Similar to a former running back that was here, in Nick Chubb, you see why Cleveland took Judkins in this year’s draft. Judkins and fellow rookie Dylan Sampson are essentially going to be the next Nick Chubb/Kareem Hunt duo, and if the running game continues to get better, it’s safe to say this duo will be a problem in the next couple of years.
Rookie class shines once again
It’s early but it’s safe to say that the 2025 Cleveland Browns rookie class is shaping up to be one of the best rookie classes that we’ve seen from GM Andrew Berry. The class has shown up and contributed in multiple ways and Sunday was another case of that. Linebacker Carson Schwesinger is continuing to make a strong case for Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was everywhere on the field and he came up clutch when called upon.
It may sound premature but Mason Graham will be a Pro Bowler in a few years. Cleveland lacked an interior force on the defensive line and Graham provides that:
We already discussed Judkins and Sampson but tight end Harold Fannin has been a contributor in the passing game. What the Browns lacked in the past was a strong foundation in terms of their draft classes; that’s no longer an issue with this class.
Resiliency
When the Browns were down by 10-0 in the 4th, many believed that the game was over. Everyone knows that the Browns aren’t going to be great this year but the one thing this team has is resiliency.
Having belief when things aren’t going your way will go a long way. Credit goes to the players, but the credit should also go to the head coach. HC Kevin Stefanski has received a ton of criticism as of lat,e but you can’t question how he had his team ready to play today and how the team responded in the face of adversity. Stefanski isn’t a perfect coach, but he’s good enough to be the coach of this team and the players are fortunate to have him at the helm.
The Cleveland Browns are a resilient bunch and this upset win over the Green Bay Packers showed that. Now, can the offense continue to improve, the rookie class continue to shine and the resilient bunch continue to climb versus the Detroit Lions in Week 4?
