It’s Gavi’s first appearance since August and comes after another long spell on the sidelines due to another knee injury.
Gavi spoke to the media afterwards and revealed just how tough it’s been to be sidelined again.
“It’s been very tough, to be honest. Much tougher than last time. I’ve had a really hard time. The process has been more painful and it’s been harder
day to day. The feeling today at Camp Nou is unique. I’m very happy,” he said.
“Flick has always been there for me, like a father. He’s always supported me. I’m very grateful to him because he’s always believed in me, and I’ve noticed that. I’m very happy with him, and I hope he’ll be here for many more years.
“I always give my all for this club. That’s how I’m going to continue for the rest of my life. Now comes Newcastle and then Rayo. They are tough opponents. I’m happy and now on to Newcastle at home.”
Gavi’s return is a huge boost for both the player, the fans and the team. He’s likely to be used sparingly between now and the end of the season but seeing him back in Barca colors was a great moment on Sunday.
