A marathon second set went the way of the No. 9 ranked Horned Frogs, who took all three sets of their 3-0 sweep over the Houston Cougars in Big 12 Conference action at Schollmaier Arena on Wednesday evening.
TCU held the Cougars to a .189 hitting percentage and sent out 52 assists in a 25-23, 32-30, 25-18 victory. Evan Hendrix and freshman Samara Coleman each posted double-doubles in the Big 12 opener, with Hendrix recording 13 kills and a team-high 14 digs while Coleman totaled 10 kills and 12 digs. Middle blockers Sarah Sylvester and Alexis Roberson continued to do damage from the front line, combining for 13 kills on 19 attempts.
Ella Foti was one of three Horned Frogs to notch double-doubles on Wednesday, finishing with 16 assists and 12 digs. Rosemary Archer captained the offense with a team-high 22 assists, while libero Alice Volpe compiled eight digs and nine assists in the win. Becca Kelley and Lauren Murphy combined for 17 kills from the outside position.
The Horned Frogs (11-2, 1-0 Big 12) will continue conference play with a top-25 matchup against No. 20 Baylor on Saturday. TCU has already recorded five victories over ranked opponents this season.
